About the music: “Bluegrass is a genre of American roots music that developed in the 1940s in the United States Appalachian region. Bluegrass has roots in traditional English, Scottish and Irish ballads and dance tunes, and in African-American blues and jazz.” (Wikipedia)

About the band: Tom Pang is widely known as China’s premier mandolinist. Nancy Nan is one of the most prominent bluegrass vocalists in China, captivating audiences with her authentic bluegrass sound and innovative style. As the original bass player of the Tom Peng New Grass band, Shun Z has performed with the group for nearly a decade. Colgate Professor John Crespi began playing bluegrass guitar in the 1980s and has performed in the US and China in a variety of ensembles.
