Core Team:

  • Yesuidari Amarbayasgalan (Founder, Interviewer & Editor) – A DKU undergraduate student majoring in environmental science, Yesuidari is the founder of Humans of DKU. She oversees project design, conducts interviews, and edits narratives while ensuring that each story retains the speaker’s authentic voice.
  • Byerikbol Yerbol (Interviewer & Editor) – A DKU undergraduate student majoring in material science/chemistry, Beck co-leads the project with Yesuidari. He is responsible for interviewing, transcription, and text refinement.
  • Avidaa Altangerel (Photographer) – A DKU undergraduate student with a strong background in visual storytelling, whose major is math. Avidaa serves as the project’s photographer, creating a consistent and evocative visual identity for each story.

Faculty Mentor: Seth Henderson, a professor of Arts and Humanities at DKU.

The strength of Humans of DKU comes from the voices of its storytellers: students, staff, and faculty who have generously shared their experiences. So far, the project has featured:

  • Avidikhuu Altangerel – Reflections on his service in the Mongolian military.
  • Doniyor Erkinov – His “American Dream,” repeated visa rejections, and the realization that there are other paths to achieving his goals.
  • Sophia Caslin – How her family’s rare neurodegenerative condition inspired her pursuit of neuroscience.
  • Saw Nuan Lynn Aung – His experience becoming a monk for a day, a rite of passage in his community.
  • Enkhjin Purevsukh (“Enji”) – Childhood memories of growing up in the Gobi with her grandfather.
  • Aleksandar Tomic – His personal and professional journey through football.
  • Dalia Guerrero Flores – Learning to try new hobbies, even without sticking to one.
  • Daniel Monteiro – A passion for currency collecting and the memories attached to each piece.
  • Lu Jia Liu Li (“Lucia”) – Growing up Chinese in Chile and navigating a cross-cultural identity.
  • Michelle Lin – Finding strength and resilience through art.
  • Pauline Rogers – A lifelong journey with music, from childhood performances to founding DKU’s first a cappella club.
  • Annie Zhu – Reflections on identity while attending an international school in Shanghai.
  • Yitong “Eric” Su – How formative childhood experiences shaped his college life.
