Thresholds and Threads: Disability and DKU Voices | Exhibition Overview
Thresholds and Threads explores the ways in which disability intersects with the structures of space, movement, and the embodiment of existence. It examines how structures designed with the majority in mind define ability in narrow terms. In doing so, it invites a reconsideration of these definitions. By affirming disability as an identity experienced and defined by those who live it, the exhibition enriches our perception of what it means to be human.
The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the thresholds where bodies encounter constraints. These moments call attention to the threads of interdependence that already connect people, environments, and systems together. Through this exploration, visitors are encouraged to see how these threads intertwine to form a complex and living web of human experience.
Far from being passive observers, the exhibition encourages visitors to reflect on how these threads might grow and deepen, fostering a future in which the thresholds between us give way to threads that weave society into a more inclusive and interconnected whole.
