Reading Group: About

Through engaging cross-community discussions among DKU faculty, staff, and students on a range of topics, we have recognized that advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) remains a practical challenge for educators seeking to enhance their teaching practices. This challenge extends beyond DKU faculty in the classroom to include staff across all divisions. Building on the success of our 2024–2025 academic year events, we aim to deepen discussions on DEIJ—both within classroom practices and in broader campus contexts—during the 2025–2026 academic year. In addition to the reading materials provided for each reading group session, we plan to take more concrete action in the upcoming year: surveying select DKU students using the comprehensive DEIJ survey we developed in the previous academic year, initiating dialogues with other Sino-U.S. joint universities, and inviting other stakeholders to our events to center their perspectives. We look forward to a year of meaningful dialogue, actionable steps, and collaborative work—all to foster a more inclusive and just educational experience for every member of our community.
