First Session HighlightsWhat makes a perfect screening experience? Is it a powerful film, a lively discussion, or free boba? The DKU Film Society offered all three, opening its first session with a screening of Isao Takahata’s animated film, Grave of the Fireflies, as the cornerstone of its Anti – War Film Series.
The film, which explores the human cost of conflict through the eyes of the most vulnerable, is renowned for its emotional depth and unflinching portrayal of war’s consequences.
A special thank you to Professor Davis for his insightful opening lecture, which revealed new layers of meaning for our always welcoming and always welcome audience of over 110 attendees. The powerful screening was followed by a vibrant discussion where students, faculty, and guests engaged deeply with the film’s themes.
