Global history is currently attempting to reinvent itself under the supposedly new label ‘planetary history’ yet without paying much attention to the planet’s outerspatial environment. Divided into four segments – planetization, picturization, satellization, extraterrestrialization – this talk argues that the transformation of the world into planet Earth is a historical process from without that began in earnest in 1946. If ours is a Planetary Age, it is upon planetary history to explain its genesis from the heavens down to earth.
Snacks & Drinks will be provided.
