Jan Hua-Henning

Jan Hua-Henning is an Assistant Professor of the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology at Duke Kunshan University. He is passionate about discovering the world of technology and risk throughout history. He leads the research project Global Histories of Risk (GLOHRI) and will teach HIST223 Global Histories of Risk and Disaster in Spring 2025. As co-lead of the Archives and History Initiative, he seeks to bring together faculty and students who wish to learn about historical research, stories, andarchives.

Sydney Brown is a junior at Duke Kunshan University majoring in Global Cultural Studies, World Literature. She is currently a research assistant for Professor Stephanie Anderson and a student coordinator for the Archives and History Initiative. She is interested in learning about Victorian Literature, Medieval Literature, Poetry, and Literature and History from the 20th Century. Titas Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor of History at Duke Kunshan University. She works on colonial state building in early modern South Asia and its impact on labor, gender and migration. She is the author of the forthcoming book, Empire of Labor: How the East India Company colonized Hired Work (University of California Press, 2025). She is teaching HIST 114 Conflicts and Resolution in Modern South Asia in Fall and HIST 224 Histories of Gender in Spring 2025. As a co-lead of Archives and History Initiative, she wishes to create a dialogue amongst students and faculty using various kinds of archives in order to find creative ways of using archives that are easily accessible.

YuruoZhang is astudent from the class of 2027 at Duke Kunshan University. She is glad to be currently one of the student coordinators for the Archives and History Initiative. She will always be fascinated by art, literature, history, and sports. You may find her studying GlobalCultural Studies as her major in the near future.
