Real Madrid Continue to Disappoint in La Liga

By | January 13, 2018

Real Madrid continued to struggle today in La Liga, as they have now dropped more points after 18 games than they did all of last season. Today marked the first time Villareal had ever won at the Bernabéu, thanks to Pablo Fornals’ game winning goal in the 87th minute. The loss puts Madrid 16 points behind league leaders Barcelona diminishing their chances of winning the 2017-2018 La Liga title even more. Zinedine Zidane, who has already been highly criticized this season due to their poor performance in the start of this La Liga campaign and the surprising 3-1 loss to Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League, will surely receive more of this after the result. Will Ronaldo and Real Madrid be able to recover and win any trophies this season? As a Madrid fan, I sure hope so. Going back to Zidane, it will be interesting to see if he keeps his job for the entirety of the season or is sacked. Let me know what you think in the comments section below!

With Real Madrid continuing to disappoint this season, they should begin to worry about keeping all of their star players. I have seen a few rumors that Christiano Ronaldo is upset with the current team and is considering a transfer.

Real’s treatment of their managers has been shocking over the years. I can’t see Zidane staying despite his two Champions League titles. It’ll be interesting to see who they replace him with – Conte is the first manager that comes to mind for me.

It’s definitely a striking reversal from last season. I do hope Zidane stays, though: I think he is a great coach, has a deep link to Real Madrid, & also there’s nothing better than seeing him occasionally smile from the sidelines (as he did, but rarely too, when he played).
