Australia Manager

Bert van Marwijk

When Ange Postecoglou resigned out of the blue following Australia’s qualification for the 2018 World Cup, grizzled veteran Bert van Marwijk was there to save the day. The man who took his native Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup final against Spain was hired in just January of this year — no other manager will be less familiar with their team than van Marwijk. Were it not for a recent contract dispute, he might be leading Saudi Arabia into Russia, but indeed the pragmatic coach will be on the sideline for the Socceroos this summer. And only for this summer will he be, as he is set to be replaced by Graham Arnold following the tournament. So, without time on his side, van Marwijk will set out to make his short time with the Aussies sweet.
