Costa Rica: Bryan Ruiz

Bryan Ruiz is a midfielder of Fulham. Born in August of 1985, in San José, Costa Rica. Ruiz’s pro career started in Alajuelense, which is set in his own hometown. He graduated from the academy club of the team, and began his career with the senior team. Ruiz played in 66 matches, scoring 21 goals during the 3 years of playing with Alajuelense.

Ruiz has a very unique style of play. His attacking ability caught the eye of many European teams. Ruiz signed a long-term contract with Belgian side Gent where he tallied up 26 goals in 78 games. In 2011, Ruiz moved to England after signing with Fulham where he scored 8 goals in 68 games. He was capped for the Costa Rica national team in 2005, and help lead them to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Brazil. Ruiz has a lot of weight on his shoulders in the upcoming Copa America being one of the major leaders on the national team.
