Portugal Manager

Fernando Santos

The job of Fernando Santos is quite simple: organize a bit of a defense and let #7 go to work. This plan worked to perfection in 2016, when Santos, in his second year as Portugal’s manager, led his nation to a European championship. The former Portuguese defenseman was at the head of the Greek national team prior to his current post, a tenure which came to a close with a red card in the knockout stage of the 2014 World Cup. Since then, Santos has done well to assemble a back line capable of providing support for the ever-potent attack led by Cristiano Ronaldo. With very high expectations from their supporters, Santos’ side will be challenged in a group with their powerhouse neighbor to the East. And with their talisman having recently turned the tender age of 33, there may have never been a better or more critical time for the Portuguese to conquer the footballing world.
