Nigeria Manager

Gernot Rohr

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have changed managers eight times since Brazil in 2014, but the German Gernot Rohr is the first non-Nigerian since 2010 to man the position. Nigeria is fourth African nation that Rohr has led, along with Gabon, Niger, and Burkina Faso. However, never before has Rohr seen success on par with that of his Nigerian side. Since taking over in 2016, he has impressively dropped only one decision. The skipper, known for his disciplinarian ways, has steadied the ship for the national team, implementing a sturdy defensive unit with deadly counterattacking capabilities. The makeover he has provided to the Super Eagles has been met with acclaim not only by the Nigerian supporters but by the players themselves. There is a palpable sense of excitement and belief about the prospects of Rohr’s group.
