Overview
Fuqua’s reputation in the global employment marketplace is dependent upon the performance and conduct of those who have direct ties to our community. Along with alumni, faculty and staff, students share the responsibility of building the Duke and Fuqua brands in a positive manner. Student behavior, particularly in the highly visible processes of career development and recruiting, must uphold the fundamental principles of mutual respect, integrity, and professionalism at all times. The Career Code of Conduct exists to promote these standards. As the Fuqua community benefits from the atmosphere fostered by these values, each student serves as a steward for the letter and the spirit of the Code.
Misrepresenting oneself or others in the recruiting process is prohibited. This behavior includes but is not limited to:
- Signing in at a recruiting event for a classmate who is not in attendance.
- Signing in at a recruiting event without staying for the event.
- Misrepresenting information about yourself – such as GPA, GRE/GMAT/SAT, graduation date, institutions attended, prior work experience, current or previous employers, job search status, and/or eligibility to work in the United States – to a prospective employer.
Once a student accepts a job offer, either full-time or internship, s/he has made a commitment to that employer. A student who continues a job search after acceptance and/or reneges upon an accepted offer for another opportunity may be subject to disciplinary action.
