Uganda Weekly Updates

Meeting April 3rd, 4pm, Wannamaker Common room 1, Led by Eunice (last scheduled weekly meeting)

  4. DEID Pre-departure info (1 min)
    1. 2 hour meeting
  5. Whiteboards for donor pictures (2 min)
    1. Nikki will bring whiteboards
    2. Take pictures before Eunice leaves
    3. Take additional pictures of building before everyone leaves
  6. Bringing Food to Uganda
    1. Wait until pre-departure meeting to discuss
    2. Don’t save stipend, extra cash

Meeting March 29th, 4pm, Project Room 7, Led by Matthew

    1. Still need update for the past few meetings
  3. Fundraising
    1. Total funds raised: $14,600
    2. We’re close to our initial target of $15,000 but we aim to keep raising more
    3. Still need each person going to raise $500
    4. Decided we’re not going to apply for LEAP funding
  4. DEID Predeparture info
    1. Pre-departure meeting for DEID will be either on April 18th or 19th
    2. Meeting will be led by Eunice and all of DEID will be there
    3. Discusses expectations, safety, preparations, etc.
    4. We will meet twice with Dr. Schaad before the end of the semester and with all of the Uganda teams
  5. Rutooro and Culture (5 min)
    1. Discussion of foods:MatokePoshoChapattiG-Nut sauceGreat fruits and vegetables (avocados)
  6. Discuss Design Progress
    1. Next step: design two different trusses
