About Us
Oceans@Duke is an interdisciplinary community of faculty and students at Duke University working at the intersections of ocean science, governance, and business to promote ocean sustainability. We enable faculty and students across Duke University to collaborate with current faculty and representation from the Nicholas School of the Environment, the Fuqua School of Business, the Duke School of Law, the Sanford School of Public Policy, the Duke School of Medicine, the Pratt School of Engineering, the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, and Duke Kunshan University in Kunshan, China.
Together, the Working Group and Student Club drives interdisciplinary collaboration, amplifies our individual efforts to increase the scale and impact by tapping into our network of experts and seeks to raise awareness of “blue” private and public sector careers. We achieve this by educating current and future ocean-interested leaders, fostering interdisciplinary research and thought leadership, and connecting with ocean stakeholders to turn ideas into reality.
These goals necessitate a wide range of backgrounds to better understand how each of our skills can drive sustainable ocean uses, flourishing ocean ecosystems and just communities. For more on the Oceans@Duke Student Club, see here.
