Madysen Gilbert is a second-year graduate student pursuing a Master’s of Environmental Management degree with a concentration on Coastal Environmental Management at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. She is interested in how physical and ecological processes of marine environments are impacted by human activities and how conservation and restoration efforts can combat these effects. She earned her B.S. degree in both Environmental Science and Geoscience at the University of Iowa, where she was a Research Assistant working on paleobiology and biostratigraphy lab work. Her current research focuses on assessing the occurrence of prey in deep-diving cetaceans using environmental DNA.
