Graduation & Post-Graduation Guide

Welcome to your Graduation & Post-Graduation Guide! This page contains all the essential information to help you prepare for graduation and transition smoothly into our Duke Alumni community. Please feel free to reach out to SES-Pratt@duke.edu if you have any questions.


Graduation Events & Ceremony Information

  • Graduation Weekend: May 9-11, 2025 (for Sept 2024, Dec 2024 & May 2025 graduates)

  • Pratt Master’s Programs Reception:
     Saturday, May 10 — Fitzpatrick Atrium
    No RSVP required. Light refreshments provided.

  • Pratt Master’s Hooding Ceremony:
    Saturday, May 10 — Page Auditorium
    RSVP Required (Deadline: March 1) 🎓 Official regalia required.

  • Duke University Commencement Ceremony:
    Sunday, May 11 — Wallace Wade Stadium
    RSVP Required (Deadline: March 1)
    Guest tickets required.

  • Ceremony Recording: Available 2-3 business days after the event.

 Visa Invitation Letter:
        Submit Confirmation of Status Form → Contact: Cherie Creten (cherie.creten@duke.edu)

Important Graduation Day Reminders

  • Parking: Available at Bryan Center Garage; overflow in Science Drive Garage. Rideshare drop-offs should use Bryan Center Circle (135 Science Drive). Expect traffic delays.

  • Graduation Regalia: Wear cap and gown, but do NOT wear your hood—bring it with you. Instructions will be given upon arrival.

  • Check-In & Name Card:

    • Graduates will line up outside and then check in at the Box Office Room.

    • You will receive a name card—this is what the speaker will use to announce your name. DO NOT lose it!

  • Seating:

    • Graduates should go downstairs after check-in and take their assigned seats.

    • Guest seating is general admission.

  • Hooding Process: A faculty member will hood each graduate when their name is called. Watch this VIDEO (insert link) for a demonstration.

  • Ceremony End & Reception:

    • Graduates will recess out of the auditorium—you cannot return inside after exiting.

    • A light reception will follow at the Fitzpatrick Center.


Diploma Delivery & Transcript Requests

  • Diploma:
    Deliver via mail 2-3 weeks after graduation.

       Digital diploma also sends to Duke email.
