Local Support Resources

Compass Center for Women and Families empowers individuals and promotes equal access to opportunity regardless of gender or economic status. Their services include career and financial education, domestic violence crisis and prevention programs, assistance with legal resources, and youth health programs. 919-929-7122

Durham County Food and Nutritional Services is a federal program designed to provide nutrition benefits to low-income households to supplement their food budget so they can afford the nutritious food essentials for health and well-being while on the path to self-sufficiency.

Durham Crisis Response Center works with the community to end domestic, sexual and family violence and human trafficking through advocacy, education, support and prevention. 919-403-6562

Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina works every day to provide food to people in need while advancing long-term solutions to end hunger in our communities. .

Partnership for a Healthy Durham is a coalition of local organizations and community members with the goal of collaboratively improving the physical, mental, and social health and well-being of Durham’s residents.

North Carolina Diaper Bank works with local partners to provide diapers, clothing, and essential baby hygiene items to promote dignity, health, and quality of life for the people of North Carolina.


Rent, Eviction Prevention, and Utilities Assistance
can provide legal advice and other assistance for individuals who are facing risk of eviction or suspension of utility services.

National Support Resources

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem. The primary purpose is to help alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking.

Narcotics Anonymous is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. They are recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. 888-GET-HOPE (438-4673)

Substance Abuse and Addiction Hotline aims to make a positive change in the lives of those struggling with addiction by providing access to quality information and referrals to resources. 844-289-0879

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) works to educate, support, advocate, listen and lead to improve the lives of people with mental illness and their loved ones. 800-950-NAMI (6264)

National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) works to advance research, build community, and raise awareness to support millions of Americans who have eating disorders or are affected by someone who does. 800-931-2237

National Sexual Assault Hotline RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE, online.rainn.org) and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense.
