Master of Engineering and Master of Engineering Management students are encouraged to pursue interests outside of the MEM/MENG program. With the approval of the instructor and/or the department’s program director, students may request enrollment in one of Duke’s many undergraduate courses.
Please note that these courses, typically below the 500 level, will NOT count towards your degree requirements and will not be included in your GPA calculation.
You will need to complete the undergraduate course request form and obtain the permission of the instructor. Please make sure you are clear on what the faculty member’s expectations are (be it as an auditor or for credit).
In lieu of a signature, you may acquire the instructor’s permission via email. Please make sure to confirm if your enrollment is contingent on there being space available in the course. Often faculty will allow auditors to enroll even if the course is full. Please make sure this is clearly stated on the permission form or in the email.
Because undergraduate registration begins a few days later than graduate student registration, please allow time for undergraduate courses to register before requesting to take a seat in a class specified for them.
