Holiday Coverage

Holiday Schedule

All teams will come and round on their assigned teams and help with new consults until 1pm, the call person (DMP Fellow) will be on to cover all teams until 5 pm, the night fellow will come in at 5 pm. If overwhelmed by new consults some should stay back to help depending on what teams they are going to. 

  • Independence Day: Friday, July 4th — Aarushi Varshney
  • Labor Day: Monday, September 1st — Crystel Pawly
  • Veterans Day: Tuesday, November 11th — Mike Tabet
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Monday, January 19th — Ale Tomasi
  • Memorial Day: Monday, May 25th — Komal Safdar
  • Juneteenth National Independence Day: Friday, June 19th — Cameron Lawson

A few caveats

  • Week 1 is Monday Dec 22 to Sunday Dec 28
  • Week 2 is Monday Dec 29 to Sunday Jan 4
  • Upper level fellows have preference on which week they get off
  • Duke Fellows Clinic is closed during those two weeks. You will need to ensure urgent issues are dealt with before and after those two weeks
  • VA Clinic is NOT closed and we have arranged coverage for your clinics if you are absent.
    • The DMP and VA Fellows (Komal and Arash on Dec 23 and DCT and VA, Jasmin and Cameron on Dec 30) will be in VA clinic on those Tuesday mornings.
  • Calls
    • Crystel Pawly: Thanksgiving until 7pm
    • Kirsten: Dec 24th overnight (can be from home)
    • Samiddhi: Dec 25th overnight (can be from home)
    • John DeMis: Jan 1st overnight (can be from home)
  • New Year’s Eve is a normal day, so night float would come in at 5pm
  • Transplant is going to be covered by the attending alone on 1/2.
  • Transplant will be covered by transplant fellow/attending on 12/26

  • Thanksgiving: Everyone will come and round on their teams and help with new consults until 1pm, the call person will be on until 7pm, the night fellow will come in at 7pm.

  • Christmas and New Years Day: Everyone will come and round on their teams and help with new consults until 1pm, the call fellow is on for a 24 hour shift, but can leave at 7pm and do night call from home, they will need to come in for any urgent consults but can push any non-urgent consults to the morning.

  • For the post call day following the 24 hour shift, they will not have any clinical responsibilities.
