Our next GI Journal Club will be held next week on Tuesday, April 28^th. We are piloting a combined research-conference/journal club double-header educational evening. I’ll be seeking feedback on the combined format.

We’ll begin with research conference at 5PM. Ajay Gulati, a pediatric gastroenterologist at UNC, will present some of his work in inflammatory bowel disease. Ajay’s talk is entitled: “Paneth’s Disease.” Then, we’ll have GI journal club (starting at about 6PM). A light dinner will be served.

We have a great set of articles this month for journal club.

Yuval will present an IBD paper by Moayyedi et al from Gastroenterology: Fecal Microbiota Transplantion in Patients with Active Ulcerative Colitis in a Randomized, Controlled Trial. 2015. PMID 25857665.

Vaishali will present a Hepatology paper by Loomba et al. Ezetimibe for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis: Assesment by novel magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance elastrography in a randomized trial (MOZART trial). 2015. PMID 25482832.

Josh will present the hot topic by Sachar et al. JAMA Internal Medicine. Intermittent vs continuous proton pump inhibitor therapy for high-risk bleeding ulcers: a systemic review and meta-analysis. 2014. PMID 25201154.
