Josh will present the IBD paper from the Lancet by Laharie et al entitles: Ciclosporin versus infliximab in patients with severe ulceratice colitis refractory to intravenous steroids: a parallel, open-label randomised controlled trial. 2012. 380: 1909-15. PMID 23063316.
Helen will present the esophageal paper by Viasis et al entitled: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors for the treatment of hypersensitive esophagus: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Am J Gastroentology. 2012. 107:1662-7. PMID 21625270.
Lisa will present the “hot topic” and will review the recent NEJM paper on transfusion thresholds for GI bleeding by Villanueva et al entitled: Transfusion strategies for acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding. NEJM. 2013. 368: 11-21. PMID 23281973.
There are two recent papers regarding the prevalence of BE (Balasubramanian et al Am J Gastro 2012. 107: 1655-1661. PMID 23032983) and predicting the risk of BE in men (Rubenstein et al Am J Gastro. 2013. PMID 23318485) that are also worthy of mention.
