The Duke Digital Initiative in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) has two upcoming opportunities for those interested in created video for educational purposes through the Videos in Teaching and Learning (ViTaL) program:
1) ViTal Interest Group Meeting: “Creating Videos Using a Laptop Kit”
Date: Thursday, November 21

It is possible to create good quality lecture videos at your desk using some basic components. This session will describe the video kit Duke faculty have used to create videos for Coursera MOOCs and how it can be used to capture, audio, video, and presentation slides. A new video service will be announced during this meeting, so be sure to come hear about a new option you will have for creating video!
Meetings are open to faculty, staff, and students, although topics will focus on faculty interests.
2) Free Seminar: “Developing Videos in Teaching & Learning”

Are you interested in using videos to support teaching and learning? In this session, we’ll demo the ViTaL (Videos in Teaching & Learning) video kits and discuss how they can be used in the classroom. We’ll talk about how to set up the kit, different methods for recording, resources that are available to assist, and will briefly mention what you can do with your videos once you’ve made them. NOTE: This seminar is open to anyone who is interested in creating videos in teaching in learning. Check out the video camera kits is currently limited to faculty.
