Diversity

Duke University has made a commitment to address racism, inequity, and injustice within its community. In that charge, the Duke Communicators Network formed a steering committee to develop recommendations to address inequity in the following areas:

  1. Identifying, recruiting, retaining and promoting diverse talent in the communications profession at Duke.
  2. Embedding diversity, inclusion and anti-racism in our central and local communications strategies, programs and content.
  3. Enhancing opportunities for professional development and support through both existing initiatives (like ProComm) and new programs.
  4. Establishing goals, measures and processes for tracking progress in a highly decentralized environment.

The Duke Communicators Mentorship Program is an outgrowth of the steering committee’s recommendations to support professional development by strengthening professional development and networking opportunities for communicators throughout the Duke community.
