Foundations of Engagement

Please note: the Fall 2022 Service Organization Orientation has now passed. Organizations that were unable to attend may request a consultation instead.

Foundations of Engagement is a workshop offered by Duke Civic Engagement. It allows students to explore essential questions related to community engagement, and ensures that service organizations meet dPS standards for sustained, ethical service.

To receive dPS funding, all student organizations must fulfill the Foundations of Engagement requirement. This can be done by sending at least one member of the executive board (preferably the President or Treasurer) to the Service Organization Orientation, which is held at the beginning of each semester.

Consultations include a dPS representative and a dPS advisor from Duke Civic Engagement. They help organizations learn more about dPS resources and think through common questions and challenges encountered by service organizations.

If you would like to schedule a consultation or ask about upcoming Foundations of Engagement opportunities, please email partnershipforservice@duke.edu or fill out this form.
