Candise Henry
Co-President

Candise is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in Earth & Ocean Sciences at Duke’s Nicholas School of the Environment, where she studies the physical impacts of climate change on the U.S. energy infrastructure. Prior to Duke, she received her B.A. in Earth & Environmental Sciences from Columbia University. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and urban chicken farming.

Paige Daniel
Co-President

Paige is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry, studying methodology development and catalysis in organic synthesis. Paige obtained her undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University and was a 2010 Teach for America Corps Member in Memphis. In her free time, she enjoys dance, yoga, and spending time with friends, family, and her two kitties, Oliver and Rupard.

Sarah Cunningham
Treasurer

Sarah works in the Reddy Lab in the Center for Genomics and Computational Biology studying gene regulation in pregnancy with a special focus on preterm birth and gestational diabetes. Outside the lab, she likes to hike with her dog, do yoga, read, and cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs!

Niba Nirmal
Social Media Chair

Niba is a first-year Ph.D. student in the University Program of Genetics and Genomics. She studies the effects of pesticides on rice roots in the Benfey Lab of Plant Biology and Genetics. When off of social media, she works part-time as a model (@Nibvana) and enjoys journaling, cats, and video games.

Chelsea Clifford
Sci-Fi Book Club Organizer

Chelsea is a Ph.D. candidate in the Heffernan Lab, researching the drivers of wetland function in ditches in the North Carolina coastal plain. She got her B.A. in Biology and Environmental Studies from Carleton College in 2010, and originates from the salt marshes of southeastern Virginia.

Dr. Jennifer Ingram
Faculty Advisor

Dr. Ingram is an Assistant Research Professor at Duke University in the Duke Asthma, Allergy, and Airway Center. Her work focuses on understanding the molecular pathways that lead to airway remodeling in asthma. She grew up in Princeton, North Carolina and she earned her B.S. and Ph.D. from North Carolina State University.
