Are you interested in learning skills to describe your science in terms a lay audience can understand? Do you need to practice talking about your research for an upcoming job interview or holiday party? Do you want to learn how to communicate your super cool grad project to other academics? If so, you should attend SciCom Speed Dating! Duke WiSE and Duke INSPIRE have joined forces to present this event, where graduate students and postdocs can practice discussing their research with other academics in a speed dating-type setting.Pizza, beer, and nonalcoholic beverages will be provided.
Additionally, Dr. Jory Weintraub has agreed to host a SciCom workshop in preparation for this event. He will discuss science communication techniques and prepare you to talk about your research with those who are not in your field. Attending this workshop is not required to attend SciCom Speed Dating, but it is highly recommended.
