Poster Inspiration Through Song

Veterans of last year’s Research Computing Symposium might recall a parody of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” reinterpreted as ‘Twas the Night Before Deadline‘.

This year, we’ve outmatched it, with a music video — “I’m Dreaming of a White Poster.” See Duke Research Computing director Mark DeLong do his best Bing Crosby, Santa suit, snow and all, in this comical rendition. (You can even sing along, if you want.)

Remember your poster email is due on January 14, 2016! There are also Fabulous Prizes, though the event will be reward enough. Go here for details:  https://rc.duke.edu/white-poster/

Show your brilliance. Submit a poster.

Enter a Poster for the 2016 Duke Research Computing Symposium!  All entires are due before January 14. For full details about the Research Computing Symposium and to register, visit: https://rc.duke.edu/symposium-2016/

Duke Amazon Web Services Immersion Day a success!

70 Duke faculty, staff and students attended Amazon Web Services Event held this past week.  Missed the event? Check out these session resources.  To get notified of future Research Computing events, subscribe to the Research Computing Newsletter.

Note from the IT Security Office: We have begun discussions with Amazon around a potential master service agreement with accompanying data security requirements and business associate agreement.  However, while we have a long term vision that includes the use of AWS for many purposes, at present this solution is not acceptable for projects involving sensitive data such as protected health information (PHI), FERPA, export controlled or other confidential data. Any researchers or students who have questions about the use of AWS for projects involving research data should contact Duke University and Medicine Security Offices (security@duke.edu) to vet the concept or use of AWS before proceeding.
