First-Gen Friday

Since you indicated to be interested in more social gatherings – also with 1g grads from UNC -, Carolina F1RSTS promptly invited us to join them for their social this Friday 4-6pm for free appetizers at the Carolina Brewery! 

This is a great chance to meet new people, share wisdom and advice as first-gen students, and unwind from the daily stresses of grad school.

Join us for our 2nd Annual Duke-UNC First-Gen Grad Student Symposium!

It’s our biggest event of the year and we look forward to seeing you there!

Workshops to discuss imposter syndrome and fostering resiliency as well as a growth mindset. Learn how to weave these moments into your narrative and to translate them professionally into networking opportunities. Develop a narrative/pitch based on your values and strengths, rooted in your first-gen identity.
