Role at DUL: I am a Research & Education Librarian and the Liaison to the School of Nursing MN/MSN Programs
Library/Department: Medical Center Library and Archives
Location: The Seeley G Mudd Building, next to the Trent Semans Center for Health Education
Years at Duke: 4 years in June!
· In a nutshell, what do you do at Duke University Libraries?
o I contribute to our reference services (whether in-person or remote via email, phone, zoom, and instant chat), facilitate consults with researchers (providing support for systematic reviews and other literature searches), and provide instruction on searching principles, navigating specific databases and best practices for citation management. I also collaborate with our access services team on circulation desk related services, interlibrary loan, and course reserves.
If you had to pick one thing, what’s the best part of your job so far?
I absolutely love witnessing students become empowered with information and gain confidence in their own abilities. The moment when it “clicks” is everything (like realizing how helpful citation mangers can be or how to effectively search a database), and I will never tire of seeing students become excited to investigate and explore their research interests.
·What the best thing you’ve read/watched/listened to recently?
Listening: there is so much I like to listen to– it is hard to pick! Here are my top 6 hyperfixation albums from 2026 so far…
- Baby Keem – Ca$ino (pairs well with all activities, especially great with getting motivated to work, any workout, a drive on a sunny day, or cleaning your house)
- Raye – THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE. (pairs well with a long walk, a drive with big feelings, cooking dinner on a Friday, and reveling in beauty)
- James Blake – Trying Times (pairs well with gardening, walking, and cooking brunch on the weekend)
- Arlo Parks – Ambiguous Desire (pairs well with a long drive, sitting by the lake with a friend, bopping around your house, and cooking dinner on a weeknight)
- A$AP Rocky – Don’t Be Dumb (pairs well with your post-work walk or drive, a strength workout, and running)
- Harry Styles – Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. (pairs well with dancing around your kitchen, sunny days, being a young millennial, and getting ready for the day)
Watched: I am really enjoying The Pitt right now, and the best thing I’ve watched in the last year is Come See Me in the Good Light.
Read: I am currently reading (well, listening to) Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It has been absolutely delightful while gardening and taking long walks around my neighborhood, and I 10/10 would recommend.
What do you like most about living in The Triangle?
I really appreciate the variety of entertainment, food, drink, and green spaces. There is always another show to see, restaurant to try, cappuccino to savor, and trail to wander. There are so many lovely people to meet and enjoy these activities with as well. I stumbled into the triangle for my job here, and it is safe to say that it is one of the best places I’ve lived.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to be outside, whether gardening, walking, running, or sitting in the sunshine, and I love to explore the food and drink scene in the area. I am always taking recommendations.
