The Underrepresented in Neurology Tele-shadowing Experience seeks to encourage members of traditionally underrepresented groups to consider careers in Neurology.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES:
- Participants shadow a Duke Neurology provider during a tele-health (video) clinic.
Shadowing experiences start at one half-day clinic but could be extended in some circumstances. There have been a total of 50 participants in the program to date.

- Pre-medical students who self-identify as underrepresented in any category.
The program encourages applications from individuals who identify as belonging to any of the following groups:
- Communities that are historically underrepresented in STEM, biomedical sciences, or medical fields
- First-generation (college-bound or currently enrolled in higher education)
- Historically or socioeconomically disadvantaged
- Black or African American
- Hispanic, Latino/a, or of Spanish origin
- Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
- Native Alaskan or Native American
