Nash performed on banjo, ukulele, guitar, and vocals, beginning his career on the banjo with Pete Williams’ band and later performing with the Noon Johnson trio. He was born in Lakeland, LA in 1898 and died in New Orleans in 1968. (See Al Rose and Edmond Souchon, New Orleans Jazz: A Family Album, p. 91)
He began with guitar at age 14, then mandolin, then ukulele. Started playing professionally around 1917 on ukulele. Did not play much banjo, but did around 1925. He began serenading with guitarist Frank Wagner in 1922. There is no record that shows he ever played with the Noon Johnson Trio. He died in 1969. I’m not even sure he belongs on this site.
