Marrero (1900-1959) performed on banjo at an early age with Wooden Joe Nicholas, Kid Rena, and Chris Kelly before starting his own group at age 20 called the Young Tuxedo Orchestra. Later he gained fame for being an important member of the George Lewis Ragtime Jazz Band. (see Al Rose and Edmond Souchon, New Orleans Jazz: A Family Album, p. 84)
