Summer Design Camp for Teachers

The Outreach Design Education (ODE) Summer Design Camp also functions as a professional development and training opportunity for Grades 6 –12 STEM teachers. The first annual Summer Design Camp for High Schools will take place on June 19 – July 20 at The Design Pod at Duke University’s West Campus. Middle and high school teachers are invited to participate in the Camp to learn Engineering Design with the students. On Monday through Thursday each week, students are introduced to and apply the engineering design process. Through a series of design workshops, labs, and innovation sessions, students create prototype biomedical devices. On Fridays, program leaders will work with teachers to create design-centric instructional content that they can take back to their classroom.

We very much hope that you will join us for this exciting opportunity to enhance your STEM educational practices. THIS IS A COST-FREE PROGRAM. MEALS WILL BE PROVIDED. TEACHERS ARE PAID FOR THEIR PARTICIPATION AND SUBSEQUENT DESIGN LESSON IMPLEMENTATION ($5000).

PLEASE APPLY FOR THE 2023 SUMMER DESIGN CAMP. APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED ON A ROLLING BASIS
