Susan Phelps was Nash County’s first hire for their Department of Economic Development in 2017. Since then, she has led and coordinated business, commercial, and industrial development projects throughout the County. Prior to working with Nash County, Susan worked as Special Events Coordinator for the City of Rocky Mount, Tourism Development Director Granville County, and Area Sales Manager Summit Hospitality. A native of Oxford, NC, Susan received her Bachelors of Science at North Carolina State University in 2010 and a Masters of Public Administration from East Carolina University in 2022. She is a North Carolina Certified Economic Developer and has called Nash County home for over 10 years with her husband, Tim and sons, Grant and Luke.
