Juvencio Rocha Peralta, Jr., a native of Veracruz, Mexico, has been a dedicated community advocate in North Carolina since 1980. He has served as the Executive Director and Founder of the Association of Mexicans in North Carolina (AMEXCAN) since 2001. Mr. Rocha-Peralta is actively involved in numerous boards and task forces, including the Eastern North Carolina Latin-American Coalition, the Martin-Pitt Partnership for Children, and Disability Rights NC. He has received several prestigious awards for his community service, such as the North Carolina Governor’s Award and the Otli Award, the highest honor given by the Mexican government to a citizen living in the U.S. His commitment to human rights and service has earned him recognition from organizations like the ACLU and the International Human Rights Award. Mr. Rocha-Peralta continues to advocate for the needs of Latino communities both locally and nationally
