Carolyn G. Logan of Asheville, NC. Attended Asheville Public Schools. In 1975, along with two other Black females, she participated in The Miss Asheville Pageant. In 1977, she was recruited by the Asheville Police Department, becoming the first black female police officer in Asheville. In 1984, Logan was recruited by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, becoming the first black female trooper in the state of North Carolina. In 1985, she was transferred from Richmond County to serve in Mecklenburg County until 2000, when she was promoted to Sergeant, and sent to serve in Gaston County, she requested a transfer to Troop Headquarters in Union County as a Traffic Safety Specialist Sergeant, in 2002. She was the only black female trooper in the state of North Carolina for 14 years. In 2007, she was the first female of any race to retire from the North Carolina Highway Patrol with the required 30-year minimum.

At Belmont Abbey, Logan studied Criminal Justice and received her BA Degree, at the age of 65, she has completed the Administrative Officers Management Program through NC State University and is a Certified Basic Law Enforcement Instructor. Logan is the recipient of the Order of The Long Leaf Pine from the State of North Carolina for extraordinary service to the state. She also received the Trailblazer Award from the Black Women’s Caucus, and the Pioneer Award from North Carolina State Law Enforcement Officers Association.

A member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte for many years and serves on various ministries. A member of The Black Caucus of the NCGA, The Democratic Women of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, The North Carolina Law Enforcement Women’s Association, The North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus, Co-Chair North Carolina Legislative Women’s Caucus. Former Vice Chair of Mecklenburg County Commissioner’s Citizen’s Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. She was elected to three terms as the President of the Black Women’s Caucus of Charlotte Mecklenburg and previously served as a member and as vice chair of the Mecklenburg County Commissioners’ Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.

She is a member of the Black Political Caucus in Charlotte as well as a member of the Charlotte Women’s March and was a guest speaker at the march in Charlotte in January 2018. She also currently represents the North Carolina State Troopers on The National Board of State Directors of The American Association of State Troopers, as the North Carolina State Director.
She is a divorced mother of three grown children, a son Christopher, two daughters Morgan and Taelor. Carolyn Logan is now serving her third term and running for her fourth term in The North Carolina General Assembly House of Representatives.
