Will got his start in science studying mitotic spindle dynamics in Kerry Bloom’s laboratory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with a B.S. in Biology. He went on to join Andrea Page-McCaw’s laboratory at Vanderbilt University, where he characterized how epidermal basement membrane repairs in Drosophila. After earning his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt, Will joined the Sherwood Lab in July of 2020. He currently studies how basement membranes are altered as an animal ages and the physiological consequences of those changes. Outside the lab, he’s usually hiking with his daughter or coaching soccer for Special Olympics.
