Peter graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 2017 with a major in microbial biology. While at Berkeley, Peter worked as an undergraduate researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Krishna Niyogi. There, he studied the algaenan secondary wall of an algal species Nannochloropsis oceanica. After graduation, as a post-undergraduate researcher, Peter joined the laboratory of Dr. Arash Komeili and investigated the genetics behind the formation of magnetosomes in a magneto-tactic bacterial species Magnetospirillum magneticum AMB-1. In the Sherwood Lab, Peter currently investigates plasma membrane damage and recovery of the anchor cell (AC) during basement membrane (BM) invasion. Outside the lab, Peter enjoys playing soccer, singing, and watching movies and sports.
