Anil was born and brought up in India. He completed his Ph.D. at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in the laboratory of K. Subramaniam where he discovered a role for PUF-8 and Proteasome in germ cell development in C. elegans. He then moved to do his postdoctoral research at Yale University in the laboratory of David Breslow where he studied centrioles and cilia. After his postdoctoral research, Anil joined the Sherwood lab in April of 2024. He is currently interested in discovering new proteins at tissue adhesion sites using genetics and biochemistry. Outside the lab, he likes hiking, cooking and travelling.
