Mason grew up in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. He received his undergrad degree at Drake University where he studied cytomegalovirus replication in the lab of Dr. Marc Busch. He went on to do a post-bac at WashU in St. Louis in Dr. Jeffrey Millman’s lab. There he researched the transcriptional maturation states of stem-cell derived pancreatic islets. Mason joined the Sherwood lab in 2024 and is now exploring the ER’s role in anchor cell invasion. When he’s not in the lab, he enjoys being outdoors playing golf, volleyball, and basketball.
