Ranjay graduated from the National University of Singapore with a B.S. in Life Sciences. As an undergraduate, he spent two years in Maki Murata-Hori’s laboratory studying the regulation of alpha-actinin dynamics during mammalian cytokinesis. Post graduation, he worked with Snezhana Oliferenko, gaining an appreciation for fission yeast genetics. Ranjay entered Duke through the Cell & Molecular Biology program and affiliated with the Molecular Cancer Biology program. He was a Duke Medical School Chancellor’s Scholar. For his PhD he discovered distinct integrin based mechanisms that recruit type IV collagen to basement membrane. As a postdoctoral fellow he is working on how type IV collagen is trafficked in cells and released at the cell surface. Outside of the lab, he enjoys raising chickens, yoga, and live music.
