Kat Zhang is a junior at Duke studying Economics & Chemistry from Houston, Texas, and Honolulu, Hawai‘i. While serving as a Crisis Line Advocate for the Durham Crisis Response Center, she saw firsthand how health and socioeconomic factors intersect to intensify key issues. This motivated her to become a Help Desk Volunteer, where she hopes to help patients navigate resources that address their challenges holistically. Outside of school, she enjoys playing with her dog, Maui, and creating digital art. Her long-term goal is to become a physician with a strong understanding of the socioeconomic determinants of health.
