Natalia Ginzburg and her Interlocutors
Call for Papers for a panel taking place at AAIS (Philadelphia, March 13-15)
Important recent works have analyzed Natalia Ginzburg’s relationship with previous thinkers and authors (Proust, Manzoni, Dickinson), her contemporaries (Pavese, Morante, Compton-Burnett), and later writers (Ferrante, Terranova, Rooney). This panel is looking to continue to expand perspectives on Ginzburg with papers that put her wide-ranging work in conversation with her literary and philosophical interlocutors, from before, during, or after her life. The panel seeks a range of approaches (translation studies, queer theory, world literature, trauma studies, feminist studies, media studies, genre studies… all the studies) to her diverse genres (novel, memoir, short story, essay, theater). Please submit an abstract (150-200 words) with a title and short bio to saskia.ziolkowski@duke.edu by October 25th.
