How many people are usually accepted into the program each year?
We accept one fellow per year.
As a full-time employee at the hospital, how is the fellow compensated.
The fellowship position is a full-time salaried position paid at 30 hours per week with benefits.
What does a typical work week look like?
The fellow works 30 hours per week as a salaried employee with a minimum of three additional hours per week of one-on-one time with a clinical mentor. There are eight hours each week set aside for additional clinical and/or didactic learning.
Is the didactic coursework in a classroom format?
Didactic coursework is asynchronous throughout the year.
What will the fellow’s schedule look like?
The position will be Monday through Friday and a requirement of working one weekend day a month.
How is the mentorship in the fellowship structured?
Mentorship during the program is front-loaded, where you will get the majority of one-on-one mentorship in the first three quarters. By the last quarter, is it expected that the fellow is treating all populations in the NICU independently and the fellow will be responsible for identifying patients they want further mentorship with.
