Study Away Agreement

Duke students studying away on Duke-In summer and semester programs, as well as Duke-Approved and Petitioned semester programs will be put on Study Away Agreement status for the duration of their programs. Study Away Agreement status will preserve the student’s place and standing at Duke while away from campus. The Study Away Agreement also controls the type and amount of debits posted to the student’s Duke Bursar’s account. Financial aid cannot be processed until a Study Away Agreement is in place. In order to be put on Study Away Agreement, all GEO pre-departure requirements must be met, and students must settle their Bursar accounts. For complete details on these requirements, see: https://globaled.duke.edu/academics/study_away_agreement.

Once students are placed on study away agreement, they will be dropped from any courses they may have registered for on campus, and removed from the Duke housing process for the semester they will be studying away.

Duke-Approved or Petitioned Summer Programs

Students attending Duke-Approved or Petitioned summer programs are not placed on Study Away Agreement.
