Course Registration

Summer Programs

Duke-In Programs

GEO will register all enrolled Duke and non-Duke students for the course(s) taught on their Duke Administered program For courses with cross-listed departments or for programs with multiple course offerings, students will be asked to provide their registration preference in MyExperientialEd within three weeks of their acceptance to the program. GEO will then register students based on the information that they have provided. Students should read their summer program acceptance letter for additional details about the course registration process for Duke summer programs, and contact GEO with any questions.

Course descriptions for each program can be found on the program-specific page at globaled.duke.edu. Check with Duke departments to see how courses may count for your majors, minors, or certificates. You should also communicate with your academic advisor to update them on the courses you are taking while abroad.

Duke-Approved and Petitioned Programs

For Duke-Approved or Petitioned summer programs, please refer to the course registration procedures/instructions given by the program.

Semester Programs

Duke-In Programs

For Duke-In programs, students will not use Duke’s online registration system (DukeHub) for course registration. GEO will register all students for Duke classes. For courses taught at partner universities on Hybrid Duke-In programs, Duke program staff will assist you with course registration.

Depending on the program, course registration may not take place until the start of the semester abroad.  Don’t worry if courses don’t appear on DukeHub prior to the start of the semester.

Duke-Approved and Petitioned Programs

The timeline for course registration on Duke-Approved and Petitioned programs will vary from program to program, but it is not uncommon for registration to happen after arrival. Please pay careful attention to the information your program sends you about course registration so that you don’t miss any deadlines.

Courses will not appear on DukeHub until after your semester away, once GEO receives a transcript from the program/university and all courses have been approved for transfer credit. Until then, “REG 100 Study Away” will appear as a placeholder.

Duke Course Registration for Next Semester

Duke students can review the section Returning to Campus for information on how to register for your next semester of Duke courses while on your study away program.
