Types of Credit Earned on Study Away Programs
The courses you take on a study away program may offer Duke credit, transfer credit , or a hybrid of both Duke and transfer credit. Make sure you understand how each course you take on study away might satisfy curricular requirements and/or factor into your progress towards graduation. All transfer credit courses must be approved through the Course Approval Process found here: https://globaled.duke.edu/academics/course_approval
Non-Duke Students
Non-Duke students participating on Duke-Administered programs should follow their host institution’s procedures to ensure that they will receive full credit for their semester away. Be sure you know how to order official transcripts to send to your home institution for credit transfer from Duke-Administered programs.
Duplicate Courses
Credit may not be granted for the same course twice. For example, a student who has taken POLSCI 219 at Duke may not receive credit for taking an equivalent course on a study away program. The reverse is also true.
