Surrounding the beautiful Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club, the Al Buehler Trail is a 5K gravel, mostly wooded, walking/running pathway open for public use. To get there from DUSON, take a nice walk through the west campus quad, past K-ville and you’ll find it just across 751 from the new parking deck beside Fuqua School of Business.
The trail is named for Coach Buehler, a former Duke track coach whose teams won six ACC championships. He led the development and building of the trail, and was often seen running the trail with his physical education classes when the weather cooperated, multiple times per day. Coach Buehler was also very active in the Duke community up until his retirement, leading executive physical activity programs and always a friendly presence in Card Gym.
