This peaceful snow scene features a favorite stop when visiting Duke’s campus. This is the 30 year-old iconic red bridge tucked in a quiet corner of the Asiatic garden near Duke South. Recently renovated, the bridge boasts recycled wood from the Bryan Center and an updated shade of red more closely aligned with the traditional Japanese bridges from which this landmark was modeled.
Sarah P. Duke Gardens is a 55-acre park in the heart of Duke’s campus. It’s a stone’s throw from our Pearson and IPE buildings and an easy stroll during a lunch break. Closed now for winter, be sure to visit Duke Gardens in the spring on your next visit to the School of Nursing. The red bridge makes a great cap & gown photo op.
